Wonderful review on Lorenzo Hurtado Segovia‘s current show “by Deborah Calderwood” from the managing editor of Flavorpill L.A., Shana Nys Dambrot:

Wrestling with his instincts as a professional artist in order to access the childlike bravado and glee of the (astonishingly mature) originals, he produces a series of quirky, hybridized versions that speak to the vast differences between true naïveté and an acquired outsider stance.

By the way, Lorenzo will be doing an Artist Talk on Friday, May 21, 6:30 p.m. It will be really interesting to hear him talk about his work, and to hear what questions people might have for him.

Note, 10:55am, date of Artist Talk corrected.

We had a good turnout for the opening reception for Lorenzo’s “by Deborah Calderwood” on Friday. Here are a few photos, and the complete album can be viewed on Flickr.
