It’s My First Yak!

Me sporting a Yak/Merino scarf made by Marianne

OK, it’s actually Yak and Merino, and it is SOOOOO SOFT and light, so warm.

Some time ago (how long was it Marianne?) I volunteered to do the Pay It Forward with Marianne. I had the easy part, she was the payer, I was the payee. Ha! To be honest, I had completely forgotten about it. Plus, I thought I was one of the extra ones that volunteered to do Pay It Forward with Marianne. It was really a bit of surprise to actually receive a package from her. Not that I didn’t think she was serious, mind you. I really just didn’t remember.

It is a loooong scarf knitted with 50% Yak, 50% Merino yarn, Superyak, by Karabella, made in Italy. A simple pattern, but the result is a super luxurious scarf. Possibly the softest knitted fabric that I’ve ever felt. So light and warm. And as you can see in the picture, it drapes really, really well. Thank you so much Marianne! It’s wonderful!

Oscar Party

OK. So it’s at Stephen and Todd’s, not one of those hoppin’, filled-with-mega-stars parties in the neighborhood. But our party was also filled with actors and producers. We also had our own celebrity, Rami, who was a finalist on Project Runway. AND, Stephen and Todd throw the best parties. Those nutty boys.

We had a contest to see who picked the most winners, (someone made really nice ballots,) people brought food named after the Oscar nominees, (you must see the photos that I will post below,) the show and the personalities at the party. What an evening. Oh, CB made the ribs. You’ll see them and the name of the dish in the pics. Click to zoom in. :-)

I Need…

Here’s a googling game that’s been going around on Facebook. Since it didn’t require strenuous effort, plus it’s fun, I played.

Here’s how it works. Google your first name and the word “needs” and see what the results are. Then share the top 10 results.

Here are mine. Kinda freaky:

  1. Jason Needs a Pismo
  2. Jason needs a good slapping
  3. Jason needs to SHUT UP
  4. Jason needs to diet
  5. Jason needs to put on his shirt
  6. Jason Needs A Ring
  7. Jason Needs to Add the Oasis Icon
  8. Jason needs a toilet fast
  9. Jason Needs a Helmet
  10. Jason needs help making a film

What’s up with number 8?!? I did skip two listings. One was someone whose name was Jason Needs. Another was a repeat.

Have You Read the Stimulus Bill or Not?

2009
02.15

I am really baffled by what I hear in the news. For weeks the Republicans complained about too much spending in the previous draft of the stimulus bill, also pointing out unnecessary pork embedded in the bill. They must HAVE READ the bill in details, or had someone else read it for them, right? Then the bill was redrafted, changed, I assume mostly to meet the demands of the Republicans, to compromise. They are now bashing Democrats for not giving them enough time to read the bill, even claiming to had to vote without reading? Huh? They really had no clue? Even if the bill was probably redrafted to meet their demands? They clearly mark the edited portions on the final bill for easy access, right? If they didn’t, the whole bunch, Republicans or Democrats, need to go take classes for efficiency.

I have a feeling that Republicans are just turning up the noise again (DUH!) hoping that some of us would have really bad short-term memory, hoping that we could not think back to the previous eight years… or last week even.

Yes, I am still here. But busy with work and school. Hopefully I will have more free time after the Winter session is over. That’s next week. :-)
