I haven’t felt like blogging much lately. Not that I am depressed or anything. Just tired. Last weekend was a busy one. Saturday was an important Buddhist holiday. Sunday was the last day of the New Year’s celebration and we had a family get-together.
A bit of good news. Mom started the new therapy last Friday. It consisted of three drugs. Two injections and one oral medication. The procedure took six hours to complete. She seems to be taking it pretty well. She had stomach problems the first day. But now she is just tired and sleepy, which the doctor said would be the case. Now we just wait and see what the long term effect is and if the therapy is working. She will go through this every 21 days. Plus she has to take a weaker dosage of the oral medication everyday.
Thank you MonkeyGurrl, Jane, Sylvia, Marianne, Micah, Kathy, KnitPicking and Kerry for your kind words and well-wishing. I am very very thankful to have your support right now.
Oh, I decided to learn Japanese. Thanks to Francesca. She keeps showing us beautiful Japanese books on her blog. Actually, I tried Japanese once, about 20 years ago. It didn’t take. I gave up when I started learning about particles. Funny that I didn’t get it, because Chinese uses many particles too. Maybe I should think Chinese when I learn Japanese? Anyway, I totally blame thank Francesca for this renewed interest in Japanese.
I haven’t knitted or done anything fiber related since I last posted. So I’ll leave you some pictures that I took. I took lots of photos for my photo blog that I haven’t processed. The first one is a possible source for pine needles to make baskets with. I actually found several good spots for them.

Dear Jason,
Your pictures are really great. I think giving yourself a little time to rest and focus your attention more on family matters is a good thing. You’ll get back to knitting later when you are in the mood. I look forward to any experiments using pine needles. My teenage neice is learning Japanese too and she also says the characters are similar to those in Chinese. I’m mono-lingual myself so I’m very impressed by your fortitude. I hope everyone in your family will be well.
You have to knit her a SWEATER! It’d be good for you!!!
No wonder you’re tired, your plate is overflowing a bit. Continued thoughts and prayers to your mother and you, and your whole family.
Your photos are beautiful as usual, I’m very pleased you have found a possible source of needles for future baskets ;^)
I took 3 semesters of Japanese back in the late 80s early 90s and loved it but there was no one around to speak with and so didn’t keep it up, and now have forgotten most of it. I have all my books though and perhaps one day will haul them out if only to exercise my mind.
Know that I’m thinking of you and yes, we’ll all be right here for you.(I feel pretty safe expressing that ‘we’, obviously by the comments everyone here is very loyal and loving in regard to your well being and those of your family)
Sure, blame me.
Actually, I wish we lived closer so we could study together or compare notes sometimes. I’ve started and interrupted my Japanese studies many times and every time I stop because I lose steam, not having someone to share the experience with.
PUPPIES!!!!! I love me some puppers. And hey, Stephanie, have you two ever heard of this thing called a “TELEPHONE”?! Or “E-MAIL”?!
Sometimes I wonder how I ever got through school in the pre-computer days. Barbaric, I know!
I’m glad your Moms *stomached* the treatment okay (get it?!) I hear it gets, well, not easier, but you get accostomed to it. In the meantime, if you want me to procure some “medicinal” marijane, you just lemme know.
I know people.
