Oh so close, and yet so groggy! I really tried to make that last push and finish the Lotus Blossom last night. Only 8 rows left and the bobble bind-off. I sat down and started knitting. A coughing fit started. Took some NyQuil, thinking, “experiences told me that after a few nights I wouldn’t get drowsy anymore.” Wrong! I got so sleepy that I started second guessing my counting. “One, two, three…, nine, ten… huh? Did I count right?” I did, but I just didn’t trust myself. After knitting 4 rows and I just couldn’t go on anymore. So, hopefully I will get it done tonight. 4 rows. Sounds easy. But so many stitches. :-| Here’s a picture of the progress. My camera really had a hard time with so much red in the picture.

These came today:

Interlocking foam tiles. I ordered these in anticipation of blocking the Lotus Blossom Shawl. I got enough to cover the floor of a small room I think. Our bed is off limit so I had to think up something. A long time ago I read about someone using these tiles for blocking. I did some research online and found that SoftTiles was the best choice. Great products and great prices. I chose the 1×1 tiles (1 sq. ft.) Two reasons. 1) There’s no “break box” charge if you order less than 25 mats. I was able to get two different colors instead of having to worry about meeting the minimum quantity and get only one color. 2) Shipping is cheaper with smaller sized box.

Now I just have to finish knitting the shwal. :-)

Hey Marianne! This book arrived today.

Pine Needle Basketry by Judy Mallow. It’s a beautiful book. :-D

Better post these before I come to my senses. You see, I was sick and stayed in bed all day Sunday. I took out my long-forgotten MacBook so I could check messages in bed. (Yes Ted, I put lots of stuff away when the cleaning lady comes. Unfortunately some of them become forgotten.) I found this little fun app. called “Photo Booth” on it. I humored myself by taking pictures with funny special effects. I must be having a fever still because I am posting these pictures.

Square Head
This reminds me of a Chinese cartoon character named “Big Potato.”

Can you see that I had a good time making fun of myself? Thank you all for the well-wishing. I think I am over the worst part of this illness. Hopefully I’ll be all better in a couple of days. OK, time for medication! Bye!

Have not been feeling so well. Started with a scratchy throat. Now coughing and feverish. So, I’ll keep this post short.

This is what I want to do with the ribbing on my sweater:

I want to steam the heck out of the ribbing so that the fabric doesn’t draw in much, leaving just the texture. The above is one of my favorites sweater, and my inspiration for doing the ribbing this way.

Here’s the Lotus Blossom Shawl with two rows of Blossom pattern done. Half way through the third row now. Almost done. Just in time for Chinese New Year!
