Here we have yarn in two colors, circular needle and Jacqueline Fee’s “The Sweater Workshop“. I am ready. I am doing this step by step. So, the sampler is the first thing to knit. The idea is to sample each technique in the book by knitting an interesting looking “thing”. Most say that it looks like fish. I agree. The green color yarn is Cascade 220. Color number 9460 and I think it’s called Dune Heath. The blue one is a 50/50 blend of Alpaca and Wool from Valley Yarns. Color is Navy. It came in the gift bag at the Stitch ‘n Pitch. Tomorrow is Saturday. I’ll be all alone. Plenty of time to work on this and Lotus Blossom. :-)

Oh, Jane just finished her Mountain Pines Shawl. It is HUGE! It’s beautiful! She even spun the yarn herself. Go have a look!

Yes! The “stems” of the Lotus Blossom Shawl are done! It was really, really enjoyable. And blossom patterns has been started. 117 rows finished, 49 rows to go, plus bobbles for edging. I am so excited. I think it’s going to be done soon. Not that I am getting bored with it. I am excited to know that I can give it to my mom finally. My partner is away for the trade show again. I will have plenty of time to knit this week. hehehe

Thank you all for leaving your opinions on the sweater project. I tried to order the yarn earlier. I really did. But you know how it is. You go on the website and you see all these choices, you start wanting this and that color. :: sigh :: Try again tomorrow.

Still in the planning process of the sweater that I WILL knit. I like to visualize things, so I made an illustration that shows some of the color combinations that I might want to use. Do you see anything good? or bad? Any suggestion?

This is “Lotus Blossom Shawl” at row 88. I think it’s doing OK. I am a little worried about the size. I know. It will block out larger. But I am just worried. Even though I had the experience of knitting “Violets by the River”. But I didn’t have to pin Violets when blocking. So, this is the first time that I will actually stretch a piece of knitting to size. I am just not so sure how it will work out.

Has anyone had any experience with Peace Fleece? I wonder how it’s like knitted into a garment. Scratchy or not? Knitter’s Review did a review in 2004. But I still wonder…

I recently joined a group of friends in a fun knit-along. The idea is to knit a sweater using Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Percentage System. Help each other with problem solving. Encourage each other on. Perfect! I have been wanting to try my hands on knitting an adult size sweater! After some research, I decided to use Jacqueline Fee’s “The Sweater Workshop” for the project. Now the hard part… yarn selection…

It’s between Peace Fleece (70% Wool, 30% Mohair. Worsted or DK) and KnitPicksMerino Style (DK). Knitting with 100% Merino is tempting, but I love Peace Fleece’s color choices. Plus I like the idea of helping out other parts of the world. I am really not adventurous when it comes to selecting yarn. I think I am the type that just enjoy a good knitting session. Hmmm… I should think about spinning my own yarn for the next sweater.

Anyway. Please let me know of your opinion on Peace Fleece? It will be most appreciated! :-)
