Start of a New Adventure (Well, Almost)

Here we have yarn in two colors, circular needle and Jacqueline Fee’s “The Sweater Workshop“. I am ready. I am doing this step by step. So, the sampler is the first thing to knit. The idea is to sample each technique in the book by knitting an interesting looking “thing”. Most say that it looks like fish. I agree. The green color yarn is Cascade 220. Color number 9460 and I think it’s called Dune Heath. The blue one is a 50/50 blend of Alpaca and Wool from Valley Yarns. Color is Navy. It came in the gift bag at the Stitch ‘n Pitch. Tomorrow is Saturday. I’ll be all alone. Plenty of time to work on this and Lotus Blossom. :-)

Oh, Jane just finished her Mountain Pines Shawl. It is HUGE! It’s beautiful! She even spun the yarn herself. Go have a look!

    Jason,

I know what it’s like to want to steal a little time to yourself so you can indulge in your knitting! I can’t wait to see how you manage. I don’t own that particular book but it looks really good. I’m just too lace obsessed to knit anything else right now :-) And that shawl is not really that huge. The Wedding Ring Shawl, now that sucker is going to be huge! I want to see that Lotus Blossom shawl make progress so I’m rooting for you to have time alone. Happy Knitting.

Jason, that’s some really nice yarn you have there, looking forward to seeing the sweater in the making….after the sampler of course.
Thanks for the link to Jane’s, that shawl is absolutely breathtaking!
    As were her other shawls.

Looks like you’re ready for your adventure. That book looks interesting. I’ll keep it in mind if I ever get brave enough to want to try making a sweater. Happy Knitting! :)

Jason wrote: Saffron, you really should look into getting this book. It’s not as scary as I thought it would be. I was like you, afraid of making something that requires it to be fitted. :-)

  4. Good luck!! Have fun following the directions . . . I know I couldn’t do it :(

    I’m a knitting rebel . . .no rules! . . . except for when I get lost.
